WITHIN THE RUINS veröffentlichen Video zu „Demon Killer“; das neue Album „Phenomena II“ erscheint heute über MNRK Heavy!
“WITHIN THE RUINS are seven albums in and absolutely embracing deathcore’s more cinematic, progressive elements.” – Metal Hammer
“We had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,” erinnert sich Gitarrist Joe Cocchi. “We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded [vocalist] Steve [Tinnon] of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book character’s point-of-view.”
Mit „Demon Killer“ verbindet die Band in ihrer Darstellung des [DC Comics-Antihelden] Constantine technische Aspekte mit moralischer Zweideutigkeit. “It checked all of the boxes by utilizing this glitchy effect we started using on Phenomena,” erklärt Cocchi. “‘Demon Killer’ is Constantine. He was born into a world that never appreciated him. Steve is breaking down his character by talking about his internal conflicts and how he’s fighting evil with evil.”
“We absolutely love how this video turned out,” so Tinnon. “The imagery and effects do incredible justice to the character of John Constantine, and really encapsulate his struggle between the forces of good and evil.”

“When you listen to us, we hope you feel like you found some fresh metal,” so Cocchi. “After doing anything for a long time, it’s easy to get stuck in your ways. So, we always try to present something you haven’t heard before — and you aren’t going to get anywhere else.”
“We couldn’t be happier Phenomena II is finally out for everyone to hear,” sagt Tinnon. “We’re extremely proud of how it turned out, and we hope you all enjoy the characters and songs as much as we enjoyed making it!”
“WITHIN THE RUINS are seven albums in and absolutely embracing deathcore’s more cinematic, progressive elements on new single ‘Castle In The Sky,’ striking a balance between furious, stomping beats and nimble, technical guitar lines that have an air of the neoclassical about them.” – Metal Hammer (Best New Songs)
“Proggy deathcore for all!” – Metal Injection
“[It] seems to start off as a darkwave song before becoming a deathcore track. It’s a really dynamic contrast that makes the song sound really exciting and vital.” – MetalSucks on “Castle In The Sky”
„…an underrated band that deserves more popularity and attention. The guitar leads the way into a video game world type of sound, with a Yngwie Malmsteen virtuosity in some parts. The bass and drums set the pace and support the guttural growls on top. Their sound is strong with low tuning and the album could be the perfect soundtrack whilst you’re playing a video game.” –– This Day In Metal
