RUSH starten ihre „Fifty Something“-Tour mit vier sagenhaften Konzerten in Los Angeles

Vorgeschmack auf fünf Deutschland-Konzerte 202Am Sonntag, 7. Juni fand in Los Angeles der mit Spannung erwartete Auftakt der „Fifty Something“-Tour von RUSH statt. Die beiden Gründungsmitglieder Geddy Lee und Alex Lifeson spielten dabei zum ersten Mal seit 11 Jahren wieder ein komplettes Konzert gemeinsam. Insgesamt spielten Rush vier ausverkaufte Shows im Kia Forum, Los Angeles, bevor sie nun zu den nächsten Stops ihrer bis 2027 andauernden Welttournee weiterziehen.
Mehr als fünf Jahrzehnte RUSH-Musik und -Geschichte werden im Rahmen der besonderen Konzertreihe gefeiert. Durch die Auftritte im Kia Forum schloss sich zugleich ein Kreis, denn genau dort hatten RUSH am 1. August 2015 ihre R40-Tour beendet – damals noch gemeinsam mit dem 2020 verstorbenen, langjährigen Bandmitglied Neil Peart.
Nun unterstützt von der deutschen Schlagzeugerin Anika Nilles und Keyboarder Loren Gold eröffneten RUSH den Abend mit einem Intro-Film, der die über 50-jährige Karriere der Band revue passieren ließ. Während des 11-minütigen Epos „Xanadu“ lichtete sich schließlich der Nebel und Geddy Lee und Alex Lifeson kamen mit ihren typischen Doubleneck-Gitarren zum Vorschein.
An den Abenden in Los Angeles präsentierten RUSH zwei karriereumfassende Sets. Am ersten Abend standen Fan-Favorites wie „Limelight“, „The Spirit of Radio“, „Tom Sawyer“ und „YYZ“ auf dem Programm, ebenso wie beliebte Deep-Cuts aus dem umfangreichen Katalog der Band, darunter „By-Tor and the Snowdog“. Am zweiten Abend sorgten RUSH mit mehr als neun ausgetauschten Songs für Abwechslung. Auf der Setlist standen nun unter anderem „Freewill“, „The Trees“ und „Closer to the Heart“. Zudem eröffnete die Band den zweiten Teil des Sets mit der kompletten „2112“-Suite und begeisterte damit das Publikum.
Bei der dritten Show am 11. Juni performten Rush sämtliche Songs des legendären „Moving Pictures“-Album und auch der letzte L.A.-Auftritt am 13. Juni enthielt eine denkwürdige Besonderheit: Zum ersten Mal seit 1979 spielte die Band „A Farewell To Kings“, das Titelstück des gleichnamigen Albums, wieder live.
Alle vier Shows veredelten Gastauftritte von Aimee Mann, die gemeinsam mit der Band eine emotionale Version von „Time Stand Still“ präsentierte. Der Song bildete die zweite von zwei Hommagen an Neil Peart innerhalb der Show. Zum Abschluss erklang jeweils „Working Man“ vom selbstbetitelten Debütalbum der Band. Damit endeten die ersten Konzerte der „Fifty Something“-Tour auf eindrucksvolle Weise und steigerten die Vorfreude auf die weiteren Konzerte.
Allabendlich werden RUSH die Setlists aus einem Repertoire von 40 Songs zusammenstellen, die gesamte Bandbreite ihrer über fünf Dekaden umspannenden Karriere widerspiegeln. Allein in Nord- und Mittelamerika verkauften RUSH über eine halbe Million Tickets für die „Fifty Something“-Tour und spielen Konzerte in 24 Städten in Kanada, USA und Mexiko.
Im Frühjahr 2027 werden RUSH nach Südamerika, Großbritannien und auf das europäische Festland kommen. Fünfmal wird die Band dabei auch in Deutschland auftreten:

1996 wurden die Mitglieder als Officers of the Order of Canada geehrt, 2012 erhielten sie den Canadian Governor General’s Performing Arts Award. Sowohl auf dem Canada Walk of Fame als auch auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame prangt ein RUSH-Stern.
Am 7. Januar 2020 verstarb Neil Peart an den Folgen eines Hirntumors. Um Peart und das Vermächtnis der Band zu ehren, feiern Lee und Lifeson RUSH 2026 auf Tour. Es ist die Gelegenheit für neue Hörer:innen, die Musik endlich live in all ihrer Pracht zu erleben, und für eingeschworene Fans, wieder zusammenzukommen.
